ABOUT
Magnus von Horn was born in 1983 in Göteborg, Sweden. After finishing high school he attended film theory studies at the University of Göteborg and also began working in the Swedish film industry. Starting out at the distribution and production department of Sonet Film in Stockholm where he worked on distributing such films as Miffo (2003, Sonet Film) and Den Tredje Vågen (2003, Sonet Film). Simultaneously he worked as assistant script reader for the same company and also as light assistant on the film set of Rancid (2004, Sonet Film) and second camera assistant on Som man bäddar (2005, Omega Film). Magnus then left the Swedish film industry to pursue his film directing dreams at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School (PWSFTViT) in Lodz, where he is currently attending his last year of MA studies at the film directing department. So far he has produced several short films including the documentary Radek (2006) and the short-fiction Milk Teeth (2007). His latest film, Echo (2009), has already received numerous awards, including the Silver Hobby-Horse for the director of the best short fiction film at the Krakow Film Festival, the Best Film Award at Munich International Festival of Film Schools and the Grand Prix at the Open Student Film Festival in St. Petersburg, at the Student Film Festival CineMAiubit in Bucharest and at the Festival Tous Courts - Rencontres Cinématographiques dAix-en-Provence. At the moment Magnus has just finished principal photography of his new films Without Snow, a 30 min. fiction, andThe Doctors, a 25 min. documentary. These two films will be his last projects at the Polish National Film School and are planned to be ready for the screen in late summer 2010.
